To B Or Not To B

I choose to B, x IV.

There are IV B's associated with the BRASH Fitness & Conditioning/ Brash Life philosophy, they are: Build, Burn, Believe and Brag.

BUILD
As far as BFC goes this is quite simple, build muscle.  By now you've probably heard that the more muscle you have the more fat you'll burn.  If you haven't, you have now.  Muscle is active tissue, meaning it is constantly working  and renewing itself therefore requiring energy (calories).  The more muscle you carry the more efficient you become at burning fat.  Even at rest you will melt fat away.  Weight training is a vital component to building muscle, thus burning unwanted fat.
Build, in terms of the Brash Life is slightly different.  We're talking building confidence.  Many people start off an exercise program because of a low self image [that's why I did!].  Weightlifting not only helped change my body, but it changed my life.  As you progress in your program and your goals change, as you watch your body adapt, get stronger, leaner, more badass, sexy, you cannot help but feel better and confident.

BURN
We touched on it a bit in build.  Everyone wants to burn fat, with BRASH Fitness & Conditioning that is a priority.  We want to be as lean as possible.  We want to function like a high performance athlete, be revered like our favourite celebrity and look like one too.  That means you have to train like them!  Sorry to burst your bubble, but walking on the treadmill, even running on the treadmill for 30 minutes just won't cut it.  You need resistance training and high intensity cardio movements implemented into your training sessions.  Get off the cardio equipment [unless you're doing sprints] and get on the floor and do some burpees!
We all have stresses in our lives, but it's how we deal with them that effects our mental state and health.  Burn the negativity, the toxic energy in your life.  Exercise is a great stress reliever.  Go for a walk or jog, skip rope, pick up boxing [nothing like beating the stress out], lift weights, sweat it all out.  Start practicing yoga, try spinning, cross fit, swim, join a rec sports league.  Your stress release doesn't have to be fitness/ sports related.  Go to the movies, read, go shopping [retail therapy], paint, photography,  find something that relaxes you, that is yours, something you love.

BELIEVE
Something I think we all have trouble with is believing in ourselves.  Human beings are exceptional machines, we are capable of beautiful things.  All we have to do is believe.  Believe the hype people, believe in your own hype.  What is stopping you from doing exactly what you want to do?

BRAG
My favourite.  Ever hear of humility? Through it out the window here.  Toot your own horn.  In today's 'reality' obsessed world, where everyone is all about me, you need to be about you.  Stick your chest up, keep your head held high.  Speak of your accomplishments without feeling arrogant. Be proud.  When you lose that last 10 pounds, bench press 200, finish a marathon, solve world hunger, find the cure for AIDS [It might be a BLS member, why not?] climb that proverbial mountain top and yell it out, let the whole world know.  BRAG!

Build.Burn.Believe.Brag.  They all revert back to each other.  Build muscle and burn more fat.  New body equals new confidence.  Building that new confidence will make you believe, and when you believe that confidence will have you bragging!
